About Visit Albania

The people behind
Visit Albania.

Two Albanians with full passports and full diaries, building the destination platform we wished existed when our friends first started asking — "Where do I go, where do I stay, and who do I trust?"

Genc Maloku

An investment professional by trade and a tourist at heart, Genc is part of the Visit Albania journey — a testament to his love for Albania's diversity and geographical richness. Travelling across many countries has fed a deep passion for exploring, and along the way he came to see how Albania holds the beauty of so many places at once: the coastline of Italy, the mountains of Switzerland, the plains of Germany, the summer spirit of Spain, and the skyscrapers of New York.

He holds a Master's in Banking and Finance from the University of Zurich and a Bachelor's from Bocconi University in Milan, and works as an Investment Analyst in Kosovo's investments industry, with prior experience in asset management in Zurich and investment banking in Frankfurt — investment expertise that anyone weighing up Albania can rely on.

Why we built this

Albania is no longer a secret.
It is still a story being written.

Eleven million foreigners came in 2024 — more than the country's population, three times the number from 2019. Most of them arrive through Tirana International Airport, which crossed ten million passengers for the first time in the same year.

The country is changing fast, and the information travelers find online is changing slowly. Search results are dominated by global aggregators that don't know which beach is rocky, which mountain road needs a 4×4, or which family-run guesthouse is actually open in November.

Visit Albania is built by Albanians, hosted in Albania, and answers the phone in English and Albanian. It is the platform we wished existed.

The most exciting place in Europe right now — value, beaches, mountains, food, and a story that has not been told yet.

Albania does what its neighbours used to do, for the prices they used to charge — and with more silence in the mountains and more sea on the coast.

I came for a weekend in Sarandë and stayed eleven days. The Riviera in October is unreal — empty beaches, warm sea, ten-euro lunches.

Theth and the Accursed Mountains were the best two days of any trip I have done in Europe. Bring boots, leave the schedule at home.

Picked up our Dacia at Rinas, drove the SH8 to Sarandë the same afternoon. The phone support answered in English on the second ring when our card was rejected at a petrol station. Try getting that from Europcar.

I am Albanian and live abroad. I sent my Dutch in-laws to Visit Albania and for the first time they did not need me to translate, call a hotel, or argue with a taxi. That is a real product.
