About Visit Albania

In one paragraph, for the byline.

Visit Albania is an editor-led travel platform launched in 2026, run from Tirana by two Albanians who got tired of recommending the same five places to every friend who asked. It is a curated directory of hand-checked hotels, restaurants, tours, and rental partners across the country — paired with long-form guides, a destination atlas, and tooling that lets local operators compete with global aggregators on their own home ground. The platform is bilingual (Shqip and English), independent of any tourism board, and supported by a transparent partner-commission model.

The country itself is the reason the platform exists: 11.7 million foreign visitors in 2024 against a resident population of 2.8 million — the most lopsided visitor-to-citizen ratio on the continent — and the fastest-growing top-100 airport in Europe, four years running. The story most international press still tells about Albania is from before that wave. Visit Albania is one attempt at telling it from the inside.

Story angles

Pitches we would help with.

If your editor wants a fresh Albania story, the angles below are where the data actually is. We can connect you with founders, partners, and locals on the ground for any of them.

The Riviera before the resorts

Boutique stays in Himarë, Dhërmi, Qeparo and Ksamil before international hotel groups arrive. Property prices, planning permission, the new airport at Vlorë.

Dental tourism that actually works

Why German and British patients now fly to Tirana for implants and crowns — clinic accreditation, EU-trained dentists, the 60–80% price gap, and where the money goes.

The Alpine north

Theth, Valbona, the Accursed Mountains. Guesthouses with Wi-Fi, a thousand-year-old code of honour, and trekking infrastructure built in five years.

Heritage in five faiths

Berat's living UNESCO quarter, the Bektashi world headquarters in Tirana, Orthodox iconography in Voskopoja, Jewish memory in Vlorë and Berat, Catholic intellectual history in Shkodër — a country where five faiths share a postcode.

A capital that repainted itself

Edi Rama's painted-facade era, the Blloku transformation, post-communist Tirana as an architectural case study. Skanderbeg Square, the pyramid, the new BLOK district.

Food the country eats at home

Tave kosi, byrek, fërgesë, raki — and why Albanian olive oil is one of the most underrated in the Mediterranean. Producers in Vlorë, the Korça beer scene, agroturizëm dinners worth driving for.

Founders

Bylines, in two paragraphs each.

Dorian Kaci
Co-founder · Hospitality & operations

Dorian Kaci is a German-Albanian hospitality professional with expertise in hotel management, specialising in MICE and group business across the DACH region. Since 2022 he has been certified by the German Chamber of Industry and Commerce (IHK). Alongside his experience in the hotel industry he has also managed luxury apartments in Tirana, combining operational excellence with a strong understanding of guest experience and international standards.

Beyond hospitality, Dorian has a solid background in political affairs, with a focus on EU enlargement, migration, and the Western Balkans. Available for interview in Shqip, English, and Deutsch.

Genc Maloku
Co-founder · Product & technology

Genc builds digital products between Tirana and Berlin and has spent years working with tourism boards, OTAs and fintech teams across the Balkans. He has watched too many travellers arrive in Albania with a phone full of half-translated PDFs, and Visit Albania is partly an answer to that — a country travel platform that does not require its visitors to do detective work.

On Visit Albania, Genc leads product, design, and the rent-a-car marketplace — the technical backbone that lets a local fleet of fifteen cars compete with a global brand of fifteen thousand. Available for interview in Shqip, English, and German.
